Guidelines

Thinking about submitting?

Read this first. It’ll save you a rejection, and the Committee a sigh.

What we’re looking for

  • We’re focused on title sequences, but show us whatever you got… not your reel though… or tutorials…
  • We appreciate character animation as much as anyone, but that’s not really what this site is for.
  • Craft. Clean composition, considered timing, a camera move as smooth as butter.
  • Typography that earns its place. Readable, deliberate, and set by a human who cares about your eyeballs.
  • Execution all the way through. The last card matters as much as the first.

Before you send it

  • Send the best version you have. A rough cut with temp music is a rough cut. We’ll judge what we see.
  • Pick the right category. Main title, end title, trailer, promo, network branding, awards, or other motion design. It helps the right person review it.
  • Tell us about it. A line or two on the concept and technique goes a long way.
  • Check your link. If you’re sharing one, open it in a private window first. If we can’t watch it, we can’t approve it.

How submitting works

  1. Send a review copy. Upload a file (720p or better, under 100 MB) or share a review link from Vimeo, Frame.io, Dropbox and the like. Five minutes max. Include whatever credits you have. Don’t send us your ProRes master. We’ll ask for it if you earn it.
  2. A Committee member watches all of it. Then scores craft, typography, concept and execution from 1 to 5. It needs a 3.5 average and nothing under 3.
  3. You get a verdict. Usually within a week, under “Your submissions” on the Submit page. Rejections come with a reason. Arguing with the reason is not allowed but not discouraged. Send complaints to the dark void that once held our sense of humanity.
  4. If approved, send the master. Full resolution within 14 days, or the approval quietly expires.
  5. It goes live. Your piece gets its own page with the credits we have. Some get made staff picks. That part you can’t ask for.

Rules

  • Credits are welcome. Studio, director, designers, animators, sound. Send what you have; partial is fine.
  • Didn’t make it? Nominate it anyway. Tell us the studio and the show or film. If the Committee approves it, we ask the people who made it for the final file, the credits and their OK. Nothing goes up without them, and you get credit for spotting it.
  • Leave the generative AI at home. This site exists to celebrate people who still use their brains. If AI did any of the heavy lifting, say so in the credits, and expect the Committee to be deeply unimpressed.
  • You only need an account to submit. Name and email, no password. Browsing needs nothing. Don’t worry, you won’t hear from us.
  • One submission per day. Per account, no exceptions. Quality over quantity is the whole point of this place.
  • One piece, one submission. Resubmitting the same thing with a new title fools no one.
  • No watermarks, no letterbox-in-a-letterbox, no phone recordings of a TV. We shouldn’t have to say this.
